Haisong Jiang was completely oblivious to the inevitable consequences when he snuck under the rope at airport security and walked his girlfriend, hand in hand, to her departure gate at Newark Liberty International Airport in New York City on Jan. 3.
As Jiang kissed his girlfriend goodbye and waved her off to her plane bound for China, he left to continue on with his life while his actions caused an uproar in the terminal. Airport security delayed and cancelled over 200 flights in the terminal, according to a report by the New York Times, and shut down the buzzing terminal for hours, stranding passengers and requiring them to be rescanned through security. Jiang, thinking his actions were totally harmless, continued with life as usual until police showed up at his house on Jan. 8 with a warrant for his arrest for trespassing. Little did Jiang know that the few extra moments in his girlfriend's arms would cost him a many hours of community service. So, the moral of this story, be mindful of Cupid's arrows and keep your farewell kisses behind airport security lines.
